POW! POW! POW! • Lula Mae Day is my performance art sister and a favorite muse of mine. IN 2010, Lula performed in San Francisco with La Pocha Nostra in the POW! ACTION art festival, created by Alyssa Lee and Guillermo Galindo and curated by Guillermo Gomez-Peña. For their performance piece, Lula arrived stuffed in the trunk of a cherry red Impala, dressed as a beautiful bride with a bouquet of blood red roses and they continued on to create tableau vivants throughout the space. For this performance, I made Lula a princess wedding gown from recycled materials and oodles of tulle.
